Coming to a website near you… Mobilegeddon!
Sounds scary, doesn’t it?
like the trailer for the next big-budget Hollywood disaster movie.
Mobilegeddon is here and there is no power on earth to stop it! Actually, it is here and it can’t be stopped either… So what on earth is it and what do you need to know about it?
Google search engine works when accessed on a mobile device. To put it very simply do a Google search on a mobile device and the results shown will take into account how mobile-friendly the results you receive are, and give priority to them. In other words the more mobile friendly your website is the higher priority will be given to it. This makes sense since the search came from a mobile device and helps the user by listing sites that they will find easier to navigate on that device.
This change only affects searches made on mobile devices (i.e. smartphones) and not desktop PC’s or tablets, which will not prioritise mobile-friendly sites, but with 1 in 4 web searches now being done on a mobile device, it is something business owners need to be aware of.
If you want to check how mobile friendly your web site is you can check using the link below. Don’t panic if your site isn’t configured for mobile use, remember we can provide assistance with changes to your web site to help with this.
